Boathouse in Bohuslän
This project involved the careful demolition and reconstruction of an old boathouse on the west coast of Sweden, in Bohuslän. The aim was to preserve its original character while enhancing its functionality and comfort. The new boathouse was designed in a traditional style, closely resembling the original structure but with improved features and a layout tailored to modern needs.
The building is divided into two distinct sections: one social, one private. The social space is designed for gatherings, dinners, and celebrations. With double doors that open directly onto the jetty and the sea beyond, this room invites the outdoors in. Its open ceiling and windows facing three directions create a bright and generous atmosphere despite the modest footprint.
The private section includes sleeping quarters and a separate entrance for privacy and quiet. Above, a small loft provides storage for fishing gear and boating essentials, ready for summer days spent out on the water.
